Yes, if someone wants to overwrite their glibc libraries then they
will probably choose a newer version.

I tried your package with the static glibc-2.2.5 lynx. It needed four files
(I double-checked this time): ld-linux.so.2 libc.so.6 libnss_dns.so.2
libresolv.so.2. How can a 'static' binary use ordinary libraries??

links has a different problem: it does not implement enough javascript
for most web sites.
