It is for newer versions of cdrecord. (maybe SW81) You do not insmod
ide-scsi, instead you just use the IDE CD writer as normal, and then
you use the dev=ATAPI:?.? option to write directly to the CD writer
(no SCSI in between)

Just an example SCSI device number. dev=0,1 is the same as
dev=0,1,0

They are just different names for the same thing. From
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/devices.txt:

SCSI CD-ROM devices
0 = /dev/sr0 First SCSI CD-ROM
1 = /dev/sr1 Second SCSI CD-ROM
...

The prefix /dev/scd instead of /dev/sr has been used
as well, and might make more sense.

I really don't know. I think it is something to do with SCSI device
numbering.
