You've got it. It's called zimage (the generic kernel).
You will also find kernels optimized for 486dx and P1
at the BL3 download site.

The floppy version of BL3 boots via lilo. When it installs
to HD (optional), it uses lilo for booting. So you have two
options: the DOS version (which uses DOS+loadlin to boot)
and the floppy version (which uses lilo).
