External modems often take a cable that has a DB 25 on the modem end, but
a DB 10 on the end that plugs into the computer (that one plugging into a
serial port, obviously). I don't claim to have seen all or even most
external modems, but of those I've seen only one was not the kind that
took a DB 25 to DB 10 null modem cable. That one was DB 10 on both ends.
