In my humble opinion נבלה NBELAH is a variant of נפלה NPELAH, a beast that fell
dead of sickness, infirmity or feebleness, in contrast to טרפה TREPAH, an animal
that has died by a violent act, say, was torn apart נטרפה by a beast of prey.
