I have a related idea. Why not look at Joshua 11:16 which is parallel to
Judges 3:3 ?

There instead of "Baal-Hermon" we have "Baal-Gad in the valley of Lebanon
which is under mount Hermon".

So perhaps "Baal-Hermon" is the result of a lacuna in the text of Judges ?
