| Thinking about all these ideas, but just wanted to say that I was going by the dictionary definition of a "wake," which is: noun1 a watch or vigil held beside the body of someone who has died, sometimes accompanied by ritual observances including eating and drinking. Seems they have become something else and no one bothered to correct the entry. And, yes, I have never been to a wake of the sort you all are talking about and am certainly down for a celebration of Ari's life/music. Since Ari and her music, especially with The Slits, inspired so many "girls" to play music, I do think that people actually playing her music live is an apt tribute, even if they don't get it exactly "right."
