"...the writer will understand the concept if not the actuality of "shunning"
and will eventually grow tired of the silence."
This is true, but not the only possibilty:
Many times I have witnessed "the writer" growing louder, offensive, or more
obnoxious in a desperate attempt at getting attention among the silence.
or
There will be one dissenter among the shunners (ironic isn't it?) who will
try
to win over (convert, talk sense, etc.) the writer which only serves to
encourage them.
I'm not weighing in on either side of this debate, but just sharing my
experience for what it's worth...

Dissent is what sharpens our thinking, allowing a new view, a new
perspective.
The desire to stifle dissent---as is going on with Wiki Leaks--is to me a
dangerous symptom of autocratic control. Dissent is good.
The very benefit of these lists is the opportunity to read diverse ideas and
views. When we disagree with a point of view, as adults we can challenge it
or
ignore it.
If a viewpoint is at great odds with the general trends of thinking in the
group, no one will respond, and the writer will understand the concept if not
the actuality of "shunning" and will eventually grow tired of the silence.
Carrots
Chard
Dandelion
Jerusalem artichoke (can harvest up to frost, overwinter, and continue to
harvest at spring thaw)
Lambsquarters (so good, try slicing up young plants stem and all and
sauteing)
Leeks
Nettles (our favorite super delicious spring tonic! great in omelettes)
Parsley
Parsnip
Peas (harvest shoots for spring excitement)
Radish
Also consider sprouting beans and grains for some green goodness in these
cold winter months, as well as starting microgreens under a grow light in a
couple months. For microgreens I have a heating pad under the flat of seeds
as well to warm up the soil.
