Jim, As these things vary, perhaps yours is a bit atypical. If it is,
perhaps that plant is worthy of propagation by cuttings. How are the fruit
size and taste?

Nanking never needed a pollinator here. A singleton bush produced a
bush-full of cherries however there may have been up to 20% more fruit when
I added another bush.
