Lee Reich, writing in the "Uncommon Fruits..." book indicates
cross-pollination is required. I believe him but never tested this myself.

I have more than one Nanking cherry, so never needed to know this information
before, but now I need to know.....is Nanking self-fruitful, or does it need
a pollinator? I'm finding totally contradictory information on the Internet.
Some info says it is absolutely self-fruitful; other info says it is
absolutely not self-fruitful and yet other info that says sometimes it is &
sometimes it isn't. And the definitive answer is.....?
