Alan,
From what I have seen, seedling jujubes tend to be thorny. There are
two terrific trees at MTSU south of Nashville, fruit all over the sidewalks,
no one uses them. I live too far away to go pick them. Try to take some
care in selecting varieties, apparently the MTSU trees are Li and Lang, and
I note that one of them at least is not suitable for drying. The fruit is
huge, for drying you'd do better to get a smaller variety. Supposedly you
can make preserves with them, but nobody in my family will eat any kind of
jam or jelly anymore (except strawberry!), whereas they will munch on dried
fruit all winter. Donna
