| Clonal apple rootstocks are mostly propagated by "stooling" (cut back established plant, pile loose mixture of soil and sawdust up around growing stems, harvest rooted stems in fall, and continue the cycle year after year). When I with the USDA Fruit Laboratory at Beltsville around 1980, they did some work on propagating the rootstocks by tissue culture.
