I have a question about "citron".
I have a recipe for a "white fruitcake" in one of my "Southern"
cookbooks that calls for citron, finely chopped. Until recently I
thought that citron was a citrus fruit and that was that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citron
Then in a seed catalogue I read a description of a melon variety that
says the melon is "used to make preserves and "sweetmeats" that are
added to fruitcakes, cookies and puddings." http://www.seedsavers.org/prodinfo.asp?number=1240(OG)
P.S. Is either melon or citrus something that would grow well here in
the mountains of North Carolina?
