Lichtenstein To Receive Clara Barton Award From American Red Cross
Irv Lichtenstein will be among the volunteers honored this year by the
Southeast Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross, headquartered
in Philadelphia with the Clara Barton Award. This award is presented
to one or more volunteers by the Chapter annually. The Clara Barton
Award is the highest service award presented to a volunteer by a Chapter
and represents a combination of service years, leadership, and community
efforts.

I received the above notice today, and wanted to share it with you not
only because Irv has been a contributor to MSAR-Riders from its start
in 2002, but also because Clara Barton is someone worth knowing about.
Her great-aunt Martha Ballard is also a notable person in the history
of medicine on the American frontier, in Maine. ;-) Martha Ballard's
biographer also merits reading.
