. It actually is 'much' cheaper to buy thwem already processed from the
grocery story, not just buying seed to plant.
Where do you get that idea? For the $1.95 you can buy a pack of 150 bush
bean seeds. This will intensely plant a double 15' row, which, according to
the Henry Fields site will produce 7 pounds per 15' row (14 pounds for a
double row) over a 2-3 week period. In my climate, beans keep producing
(lesser amounts) until frost, as long as I keep them picked, so I have beans
from May through September, probably at least another 10-15 pounds per 15
foot row. Since beans are legumes, they require nothing more than compost,
which I make for free. We get timely rain all summer, so I usually don't
have to water them. That's potentially 44 pounds of beans for $1.95. Pole
beans produce even more.
