Roxanne , I just thought of an idea that might sound crazy, but having a frozen water trough or pond where the animals can't drink,
and you couldn't break the ice with a shovel.. If you have a wood stove or fireplace, maybe you could keep a couple of large, smooth rocks or large
wagon, and just dump them on top of the ice; to let the heat and gravity from the heavy stones break and melt the ice. If you are laughing at my idea, that's okay ;-)
