It has been a great shock to me, living as I do in a farming community, that
many -- oh hell, most -- people appear not to have a clue that birth is
necessary for a female animal to produce milk.
I have been similarly shocked by how many Ozarks natives do not have a
garden. Of those that do, most all still plow and weed with tractors. Why
not, I know they would say, "that's how my momma and pappy did it and my
gramma and granddad, and . . . ."
