I only regret two things in moving to Roanoke area---the inability to
grow mangos and avocados (not those nasty, oily little California
avocados)

(Haden, Atkins, other mango cultivars)

(experimental farm, large variety of mangoes that taste good, have
good texture, yield well in native locality, do not duplicate qualities
in different location)

(180 varieties grown at Fairchild Tropical Gardens, big trees hard to
pick, prune small varieties to keep them small and pickable, use copper
fungicide to control anthracnose in seasons of high heat and humidity)
