Dear Jim and friends of the list:
Among cities of the Jewish people in Spain, there is Ejea de los
Caballeros, whose former name was "nisepamw." In the Iberian currency file
[taqop bayit, nisepamw] house of treasure of cavalry, demonstrates the
ancient use of final waw.
This epigraphic application was lost in the first century, as the
Iberian alephat was replaced by the reduced Hebrew of the Roman Empire,
which had no waw and nor differentiate between samek or shin.
