I was wondering if anyone here would care to refute or support my
hypothesis that the widespread, Afro-Asiatic verb for interpreting
PTR --- which, AFAIK, has never been resolved -- could have been
derived from the equally widespread (1) bi-consonantal verb for
opening PT, and (2) the mono-consonantal word for seeing R, thereby
identifying interpreting with having one's sight -- hence, eyes -- opened.
Thanks very much in advance for any "in-sight" anyone can give me
into the pro's-and-con's of this hypothesis.
