Without a shadow of doubt I am mistaken, But I can see no difference between
the two ways of writing the HiFiL verb (SHIN LAMED KOPH) in the 3rd person:

HaSHLeCH and HaSHLiCH

YaSHLeCH and YaSHLiCH

i.e. the one with the sere under the LAMED where one expects a hireq yod.

But why is this please? Have spent ages trying to find this in grammar
books and my eyes are now sore.

Regards, Chris.
