There was no separation of church and state in the ancient world. It says
nothing of David "recieving
worship" of any kind.
Good point, Yigal -- and one which by Jerome's time had been overlooked,
since the Vulgate inserts "deinde" between God and king, perhaps sharing
the concern of the original poster?.
