Dear Vadim,
Suppose you, indeed, translate with "prophetic perfect" and "intense
plural," and replace "gave" with "made." You get:
they would make in his death with the rich
What does THAT suppose to mean?
HH: Here is the New International Version:
Is. 53:9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich
in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in
his mouth.
HH: Here is the Holman Christian Standard Bible:
He had done no wrong, and he never deceived anyone. But he was buried
like a criminal; he was put in a rich man's grave.
HH: Here is the New King james Version:
And they made His grave with the wicked-- But with the rich at His
death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His
mouth.
HH: Here is the New Revised Standard Version:
They made his grave with the wicked and his tomb with the rich,
although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his
mouth.
HH: Here is the American Standard Version:
His grave was assigned with wicked men, Yet He was with a rich man in
His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was there any deceit
in His mouth.
HH: Here is the New Living Translation:
He had done no wrong, and he never deceived anyone. But he was buried
like a criminal; he was put in a rich man's grave.
Yours,
Harold Holmyard
