"Man Next Door" was originally performed by reggae artist John Holt in 1961.
Massive Attack's cover was Holt's lyrics and also included a sample of The Cure's "10:15 Saturday Night."

True, Massive Attack are rather generous with their
writing credits - "Man Next Door" is Horace Andy's
writing credit on "Mezzanine" I believe. They did the
same with "Super Predators" which is really much of
the Banshees "Metal Postcard/Mittageisen".

Wow! Can't wait. Thanks for the report.
One small note: I don't think you could say the Slits
were covering Massive
Attack's version of "Man Next Door"; I'm sure their
own version from 1980,
particularly Adrian Sherwood's heavy dub mix, might
have influenced Massive
Attack's later one.
