Last x86_64 installations I whitnessed were made from the thistles.
It's a simpler boot cd that basically contains a chroot tarball and a
script to ease extraction of that onto a partition and entering the
chroot for (re)building the system. You can also directly use a chroot
tarball and extract it onto a partition / filesystem for a vm...

ok.

Please note that the main problem with x86_64 support is the iso, not the
running system. <snip>
We just lag in creating isos for fresh installs...

ok. I hope i'm not making things too difficult for u guys here, but
one last (hopefully) question... Which install guide should i refer to
then for installing my system? There's quite a few floating around the
wiki, actually:
- off the front page of the wiki, there are 2 - one called "Install
Source Mage" (http://wiki.sourcemage.org/Install_Source_Mage), and
another called "Install from an ISO, with hints for low RAM machines"
- and then there's even the "InstallFromISO" page
(http://wiki.sourcemage.org/InstallFromISO), which I suppose, is the
one referenced by the "low RAM" article mentioned above (even though
the link is wrong)

Pardon me if this sounds kinda dumb, or even silly, but if u want to,
just treat me like i'm being the Devil's Advocate right now (which, in
a sense, i am) and take it like i'm contributing to the distro
already, by pointing out such confusions where the docs are
concerned....

And btw, it would be nice to explain the concept of the Grimoire as
well - i found that the faq item
(http://wiki.sourcemage.org/FaqGrimoire) didnt really answer that for
me... Instead, i found this entry -
http://wiki.sourcemage.org/Grimoire - to be much better for me.
Perhaps that should be linked to somewhere from the faq entry?

And btw (sorry :)), how's the progress on the hardened Grimoire
(http://wiki.sourcemage.org/Hardened_Grimoire)?

thanks,
-jf
