Probably just need to reinstall the config.sub from your main system
into the package

try putting an autoreconf before the build process...
Thanks, but I did that already. The only difference is that configure ignored this error, but with new config.sub it stops on this error. The output you see in the original email is from a reinstalled config.sub.
