Hello All.

I hope this gets read in the massive flood of email that's been in the list
lately. :)

I'm trying to get PCMCIA to work on my Dell Laptop. It worked in 2.4.24 but
now that I've updated to 2.6.4 cardmgr won't start. It freezes my computer
to the point that I have to hard power it off. I don't know why this is
happening, but I have narrowed it down to cardmgr. It's not the kernel
modules, they build and install fine. There's no issue with them. When I
shove in a card, the card lights up like its supposed to and all that good
stuff, but nothing else happens. I've done it step-by-step and modprobed the
modules first, then just tried to get the information about the cards, using
cardinfo (I could be wrong, because I've dispelled it, and I'm going to
reinstall to not use reiserfs, because it goes blork too much). It told me
that there was nothing in my slots. I then went to start cardmgr, it tells
me

Watching 2 socket[s]:
<my computer totally freezes now>

Nothing happens, no capslock light, NOTHING. So, I was wondering if anyone
has had this problem/found a solution. I'm going to rebuild my laptop to get
rid of reiserfs, perhaps trying jfs. Failsafe is XFS. Ext3 is just too slow.

Thanks,
David Kowis
