I think I've seen the author's name on this list before, so maybe he can
provide a translation. The article basically offers arguments for
source-based distributions and their package management and why source
distros are technically superior to binary distros, despite the long
installation and compile times. It's not really about Source Mage only,
although the author picked Source Mage as an example.

There is a quite a discussion at the bottom of the story - many people seem
intrigued by the idea of running the latest software as it comes out, but
since broadband is not that widely available in the Czech Republic, many are
disappointed when they realise the length of downloads.

How is this for a "gist"?
