Recombinant Transgenic Crops are contaminating conventionally and organically grown foods with patented genes that the biotech industry implausibly claims are adequately tested (although neither peer-reviewed nor long-term animal tests have been carried out) and even more incredibly, the regulatory process labels them "Substantually Equivalent. Yet the biotech Industry bullies have sued farmers whose crops were contaminated and have attempted to deny the public's right to chose the nature and origin of the food they eat.

The exorbitant arrogance and hypocracy displayed by their wave of denial and delusion ignores the fact that the people simply DON'T WANT TO EAT Transgenic Foods and are insisting on their right to chose. Obviously, the additional costs entailed in order to assure a given food IS in fact GE Gene Free, became mandatory for those that care about what they eat, the moment Recombinant Transgenic Crops began contaminating the open environment and everybody else's Food Supply. Apparently, the Biotech Industry doesn't want the inherently risky GE foods to be associated with the diseases they cause.

The locations in which Transgenic Crops are planted are kept secret. The studies supposedly demonstrating their safety are not made public and the crops that are approved for release are not even the same ones being tested. To "accomplish" this, the biotech industry has infiltrated the governmental agencies responsible for preserving the environment and public health.

None of the above is even in doubt. So who does the Biotech Industry think they are kidding? Do they really believe the public will refrain from reacting? In some parts of the globe, biotech crops are being pulled up by their roots by indignant farmers and consumers. But all that's being asked for here, is to be able to identify them. Once that occurs (and it will), consumers can decide whether they want to buy (or eat) them, or not!

Of course this may well be the first step toward regulating them out of existence. And any Presidential Candidate that understands the importance of this issue and share's that goal gets my vote.

Although Government Regulation in the USA (and in Mexico as well) has failed up to now, the final responsibility belongs to the public. Both bad government and Transgenic Crops exist because the rest of us have stood back and allowed the Biotech industry to infiltrate government and get away with it. The lack of response on sanet to this issue demonstrates the apathy present in both the nation and on that list (except for those that just subscribed).

Once again, those preferring to act are welcome to join the Socially and Environmentally Responsible Agriculture Network mailing list <http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/seranet> and manifest your ideas, plans and concerns to the rest.
