Up to now I´m having problems in identifying them, (the size makes it difficult, the bibliography is insuficient, my place is too far etc) but I do not have coccinea - that´s for sure !!!
They are magnificent and I would love to have some, just for the beauty of it.
My purpose is, for the moment, to re-populate the trees and my ranch with brasilian natives and aftwards, disseminate them among friends and neighbours.
My plants are all on trees.
When I make my retirement I can have plants on a greehouse and even the ones of hot places.
25ºC is the medium summer, in hotter days the temperarature climbs to a maximum of 31-34, but that´s rare.
Marcus

Hi Marcus,

Sounds like a great place to have there in SE Brazil. Where is it
situated in relation to Rio or to a city or town we can find on the
map?

What Masdevallias have you identified in your forest? You say
temperature medium in summer is +25°C. Did you mean maximum
temperature? Sounds like good Masd coccinea country and a similar
temperature range to here in the north of New Zealand. I suppose
because coccineas are not native to Brazil you wouldn't introduce
them there or even grow them in a hobby collection?

Cheers,

Ron
