Absolutely. We start our plants indoors in late March, transplant when possibility of frost has passed, (around June 1 here) and we typically get about 10-15 lbs of edible tubers from each plant and enough crown material to make another 10-20 plants the following year. The crowns need to be stored indoors and cannot freeze.

Such great links, and awesome to see the offspring carrying the torch.
I wonder how it might be possible to import some of this stuff to the
Canadian NW Pacific?

This is true, and yes, Alan was instrumental in getting in popularizing
Yacon through the SOC catalog. Actually it's Alan's Daughter Dylana and her
partner Mario that are doing the Andean Tubers these days. They do business
as Peace Seedlings. I just looked at their catalog and they are charging
25/lb for crown material. They also have Oca, Mashua and some great seeds.

They're right down the street from me.

I think Alan Kapular had something to do with the fact that Yacon is
here at all.

Take care,

Andrew

Does anybody have Yacon planting tubers that they might be willing
to sell?
I had a bunch, but lost them to cold by a bout of forgetfulness. I
want them sooner than most of the nurseries are willing to ship as
they are going in my greenhouse.
