I've often thought that PDC classes could invent themselves as worker-owned cooperatives to offer permaculture design services as a group. My latest cooperative entrepreneur project is starting an incubator to help people start worker-owned cooperatives, and if there are any Okies on this list or folks have friends who are Okies, please pass on word of our fall tour -- A Better Way to Go to Work -- which is 9 evening participatory workshops in central Oklahoma, see http://www.okie.coop/2011falltourinvite.pdf for more details.

Out of that conversation though we had to come up with hard data about
what job prospects there are to folks after a PDC. We couldn't find hard
data, and tried at length to get info from the APTs happening in
Australia. (What jobs do people get? What are the wages?) So we created a
survey, which many of you took. THANK YOU!!

People should/could create their own jobs, becoming gainfully
self-employed. Create your communities and job opportunities will
become apparent. Keep money earned and goods bartered circulating within
them. Surplus can be exchanged with or sold to other communities.
There are enormous opportunities in producing goods and services to
market locally, moreso if you develop communities comprised of people
determined to buy local exclusively.
