Hi sal3,
Know what you mean about how cool the spiders are. Here just am missing the orb weavers so far this year. Many of the tunnel denizens -- the various lizards and giant wasps are having their dens taken over by the tunnel spiders, but it doesn't seem to bother the prior owners, they just dig a new home. Have a bull snake snake and one of its offspring in the barn and often in rafters, so have learned to look up to avoid surprises.
Have learned to leave the rattlers alone as long as they don't strike without notice. The ones that are just warming themselves on the back porch just gently pick up with the shovel and move to a less problematic location. Will go around a resting rattler, careful not to show any threat(at least I hope that's how it's perceived), but some will chase and it is those I tend to put down. Not afraid, but do have a number of livestock and dogs and have seen what happens with multiple bites to noses and udders.
This land is organic and sustainably tended to so bio-diversity. On the chemical farms in the area, the only spiders seen are those in homes and the tiny spider mites on field crops.

boy I'm seeing a lot of spiders on my organic land. all kinds of spiders
from black widow to wolf spiders that jump. it seems spring really brings
then out . Have you all noticed a time of the year that a lot seem to
hatch. some go in the ground and have a web around a hole. some cross
great spans and build big webs between trees. I wonder if folks that spray
have so many spiders and I wonder what those that don't have so many are
missing. we always talk about earth worms u don't hear much about spiders.
Seems like city folks fear them and some visitors seem to fear spiders and
snakes . even king snake and gopher snake almost any snake sends them
running. some time I find them frozen and the poor snake is frozen both to
scared to move. : ? some time I see them running because a snake was on
the road. I fear rattle snakes so I'm glad to see the king snake. spiders
and snakes I am thankful for the help. a organic inspector told me one
time he could tell if land was organic or not by the spiders.
