what the hell is the good of this list if all you do is fight and not be
able to have any dialog or discussion at all?

I think the dialog has been civil enough, healthy and not particularly offtopic. It could be worse. At least there aren't any of the totally
off the edge conspiracy ramblings that characterized the BD-Now list for such a long time and now seem to be a rare thing.

There is emergency moderation if the situation demands it
and that works, also individual subscribers' posts can be
moderated as needed. I don't see any need to do this now
as discussion is healthy overall and very productive.
There has been an excellent outcome from all this debate,
excellent. Also, I have completely revised my approach to
managing this list. I now favor a hands-off approach and welcome
all subscribers and participants in discussion on a very wide range of permaculture-related topics and news.

Should it ever happen, those obvious in their attempt to disrupt, subvert, spam or coopt the forum would be deprived of email interchange and end up on the outside looking in via the public message archives.
This has happened only a few times since 1992.

Again, I would be interested in sharing ownership of this list with one or more other subscribers interested in keeping the forum moving forward over the long term. If anyone wants to do this please contact me at:
