Andrew Faust and The Center for Bioregional Living are proud to present =
their very first series of advanced Permaculture and ecological design c=
ourses this May and June 2009. Focused on honing the areas where our uni=
que strengths as Permacultue designers reside, we have thoughtfully craf=
ted each of these offerings to function as stand alone teachings or to b=
uild off of each other when taken as the whole series. Come participate=
in the groundbreaking of The Center for Bioregional Living=92s Permacul=
ture and Ecological Design Educational center where we will help to teac=
h people the essentials of high quality ways of living abundantly now an=
d into the future.

May 16th & 17th
Advanced Permaculture Design for Whole Site Development

This course will focus on laying the groundwork for an entire land devel=
opment project such as establishing ecological businesses, community far=
ms, eco-villages, co-housing and homesteads.
Topics covered: whole site analysis, mapping techniques, reading the lan=
dscape, making use of topography and hydrology, reading biological indic=
ators
Hands-on activities: siting buildings, laying out and establishing earth=
works and infrastructure.

May 23rd & 24th
Advanced Permaculture Design for Water in the Permaculture Landscape

This course will focus in-depth on the energetics of water in the landsc=
ape by designing in the context of your watershed and implementing multi=
-functional farmscapes. You will learn layout and integration of off-the=
-grid, passive and gravity fed water supplies and low tech active system=
s.
Topics covered: finding and developing springs, uses for springs, siting=
ponds, siting buildings & earthworks for rainwater catchment, grey wate=
r systems, outhouses and composting humanure
Hands-on activities: spring development, spring house construction and o=
uthouse construction.

June 6th & 7th
Advanced Permaculture Design for Edible Forest Gardens and Tree Crops

This course will focus on gardening with nature through the creation of =
edible forest gardens as well as the design and management of multi-func=
tional woodlots. =

Topics covered: designing, planting and management of woodlots for selec=
tive harvesting of fuel and building materials, understory value-added c=
rops like shitake, ginseng, goldenseal and wild garlic, techniques for i=
ncreasing the quality and productivity of wild edibles. =

Hands-on activities: planting, pruning and land management to accelerate=
succession, mushroom log inoculation.

Each course $250 / $700 for all three =


Register a week before each class starts so we know how many to accommod=
ate. =


Most of our time will be spent outdoors and there will be plenty of hand=
s-on work building and designing.

Home cooked and locally sourced meals included!

Lodging options include limited indoor common area as well as tent space=
on our beautiful 14 acres. Bring tents, sleeping pads, sleeping bags wh=
atever you need to sleep.

Classes will start at 9am Saturday and Sunday with evening sessions on S=
aturday. Students are welcome to arrive no earlier than 5pm on the Frida=
y before class for dinner that evening at 7pm.

There is a bus from Port Authority that leaves at 5:30 and arrives at 8:=
02 in Ellenville where we could pick you up. Let us know if this is the =
best way for you to travel and we will save dinner for you! =


Anyone driving who has extra space in their car let us know so that we m=
ay organize carpooling.

There is a NJ Transit Train that runs to Middletown about 40 minutes awa=
y, but we are unable to organize service to pick people up from there at=
this time. Possibly in the future?
