APT Semester 2
ACCREDITED PERMACULTURE TRAINING - Certificate III & IV IN Permaculture
austudy-approved € limited residential internship placements available for
Semester 2
The short courses listed below form part of the APT Semester 2 program.
Full time studies involve 4 days per week structured, practical and
experiential training.

July 25 ­ Aug 8
Food Forests & Orchards
short course ­half-day/wk: practical growing & care for fruit & nut trees
with Janelle Schafer

July 25 ­ Aug 8
Organic Small Crops,
short course ­half-day/wk: Organic crop production for domestic and
small-scale commercial systems, planning, preparation, growing and
maintenance requirements of a wide range of plants including vegetables,
tubers, spices, beverages, craft plants and bamboo.

July 31- Aug 21
Seed Saving & Operating a Seed Bank
Short Course ­ Mondays 10am-5pm includes a visit to Seed Savers
Learn about seed saving and operating a seed bank including flowering &
seeding physiology, selecting suitable plants, collecting, cleaning and
storing seeds and recording systems for maintaining a seedbank.

Garden & Orchard Design*
2-day intensive workshop Tues 9-5
Designing garden & orchards systems including site assessment, zonation,
integrated animal systems, calculating and sourcing materials and
implementation strategies.

September 4-7th
Working with Cultural Diversity
Intensive 4-day course 9-5.30
Gain the skills required for working with diverse ethnic groups and
indigenous communities within Australia and for volunteering on overseas
projects in other cultures.
The course deals with processes to identify & work with culturally diverse
groups within Australia and overseas, including protocols, appropriate
communications, community development issues, social, cultural and historic
considerations. Includes basic principles of community facilitation and
conflict resolution.
This course is a prerequisite for PART 2 Work in Overseas Permaculture
Projects

September 11-15th
Sustainable Aid & OS Development
Intensive 5-day course 9-5.30
This course is for people intending to work on overseas projects, especially
in third world situations. It is recommended to first complete Part 1
Working in Other Cultures before doing this course.
Topics include development issues, health, nutrition and food security,
appropriate aid and technology, community consultation facilitation and
community directed development, project management, strategies for tropical
& drylands permaculture & sustainable traditional farming, disaster response
and personal security.

COST: $475 ($415 concession)
Registration fee for both courses (Sep 4-15): $725 ($625 conc)
