PATIENT CAPITAL FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
May 10-12 2006
Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco
http://www.investorscircle.net/ic/2006springconference

Investors' Circle, in collaboration with the Skoll Foundation, is pleased to
introduce a new West Coast event celebrating thought leadership and
innovation at the nexus of venture capital, social investing, social
enterprise and philanthropy. “Patient Capital for a Sustainable Future” is
the hub of a community dedicated to incubating next generation innovations
in financial intermediation. While events on May 10th & 11th are open to
accredited investors only, everyone is invited to attend workshops on a
variety of new approaches to mission-driven investing on May 12th.

Of particular interest to subscribers of this listserv will be Breakout One,
which focuses on our Slow Money Project:

The industrial food system is organized around large-scale commodity
monoculture, long-distance transportation, fast food, and food with maximum
shelf-life, divorcing producer from consumer and doing harm to both social
and environmental relationships. With support from the Kellogg Foundation,
the IC Foundation is exploring the concept for a Slow Money fund, which
seeks to bring the activist, restorative spirit of Slow Food to a new
financial intermediary.

Moderator: Woody Tasch, Chairman & CEO, Investors’ Circle

Panel: Jim Cochran, Founder & President, Swanton Berry Farm
Michael Dimock, CEO, AG Innovations Network
Wende Elliott, Founder & President, Wholesome Harvest
Greg Steltenpohl, CEO, Adina World Beat Beverages; Co-Founder
& Chair,
Emeritus, Odwalla, Inc.; Co-Founder, The Interra Project

Plenary session speakers will focus on private companies that create public
benefits (such as Patagonia and Newman's Own); in addition to Slow Money and
financing sustainable food companies, breakouts will focus on innovative
financing solutions for Social Mission Media, Clean Tech and Renewable
Energy, Health & Wellness beyond Biotech and LOHAS, San Francisco's
sustainable development strategies (including the use of the Precautionary
Principle), a Local Stock Exchange for the Bay Area, Mission Related
Investing, and New Corporate Structures.
