Hey eveyone,

As I write this, I am in San Francisco, getting ready
to come home. I just recieved my Permaculture Design
Certificate from Occidental Arts and Ecology Center.
I studied with Penny Livingston and Brock Dolman, two
of the most inspiring people I've met (but then again,
what permie isn't inspiring?)
So, now I'm on my way home to dig in.

I've been practicing permaculture for a year, at
least, since I took the fundamentals course last fall.
Now that I have the big picture, I feel like I can
take on the big fish. Lots of ideas, especially about
creating a food soverignty movement in Ithaca, drawing
together many different groups and diverging strands
to form a unified vision for the future.

Forest Permaculture, forest gardens and agroforestry
etc., this is where my passion lies, although this
aspect of my big vision will probably be taking a back
seat in the short term.

I think one thing that is missing out east that I've
seen a lot of out around the bay, is strong
connections between permies and projects throughout
the region. This is another project I think I will be
focusing on, is networking permies in NY, PA , VT ,
and Western Mass. I would ultimately like to see an
annual gathering where permies can network, share
ideas and inspiration, and plug into existing
projects, maybe even form new projects with a more
regional scope. Ithaca, owing to its progressive
atmosphere and central location, could play this role,
perhaps. Any thoughts on this? Would love to hear
from others interested in this type of project.

Anyway, I'm really jazzed to connect with you. Hope
to hear from you soon.

Radishes and Revolution
Josh
