Two resources of great interest:
a book - The Party's Over; Oil, War and the Fate of
Industrial Societies
by Richard Heinberg
New Society Publishers

a website - http://www.dieoff.com/ a population
crash resource page
"Petroleum geologists have known for 50 years that
global oil production would "peak" and begin its
inevitable decline within a decade of the year 2000.
Moreover, no renewable energy systems have the
potential to generate more than a tiny fraction of
the power now being generated by fossil fuels."

So our job as Bioregionalists is to create the
societies that will supplant the dying industrial
societies.
