UNSW Permaculture Community Garden activities:

EVENT 1: Keeping Chooks in the Suburbs
DATE: Sunday 9 September, TIME 12-4:30pm
VENUE: garden at the rear of 12 Arthur St, Randwick 2031
DETAILS: Breeds, their characteristics, where to get them, what to feed them
and where to get it, natural chicken health, design issues for chook houses
and runs, Council regulations. A full selection of books and other materials
will be available for inpection and borrowing. Finish by helping to
construct a chook tunnel into a new orchard chicken run. Orders for chooks
of many varieties will be taken. Lunch and afternoon tea provided.
Bookings required. Organised by the Ecoliving Animal Systems Team. Call

EVENT 2: Rare Fruit trees Talk: by Michael White
DATE: Sunday 23 September, TIME 2-3pm
VENUE: garden at the rear of 12 Arthur St, Randwick 2032
DETAILS: 'By their fruits ye shall know them' Rare Fruit Trees in Sydney:
how to get them, how to grow them.

EVENT 3: Spring time Poetry & Song ( and of course Cake!)
DATE: Sunday 23 September, TIME 3-5pm
VENUE:UNSW Permaculture Community Garden, rear of 12 Arthur St, Randwick

EVEN4: Birds and the Bess
DATE: Sunday 30 September, TIME 12-4:30pm
VENUE: garden at the rear of 12 Arthur St, Randwick 2031
DETAILS: Introductory Backyard Bee Keeping plus Birdscaping your Garden.
Birds and bees carry out essential functions in the garden. Their basic
biology plus their role in your garden ecology will be covered, as will
plants and other features that you can introduce to encourage them in.
Native Stingless Bees and the more common Honey Bees will be looked at. A
hive and bee keeping equipment will be available for demonstration. Where
to get them, what it takes to be successful, support groups. What is involvd
in gathering your own honey plus tasting of local honey. Lunch and
afternoon tea provided. Bookings required. Organised by the Ecoliving

EVENT: Frog pond workshop
VENUE: Cook Gardens, corner of Pitt and Raglan Streets, Waterloo
DATE: 19th September.
DETAILS: We are making a day of it and having a BBQ as well.
