Call for Papers for a Walker Percy Session at the South Atlantic Modern
Language Association’s November conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The
conference theme is “Languages: Power, Identity, Relationships” and more
detail about the theme and the conference can be found at this link:
https://samla.memberclicks.net.

Papers for this session may focus on any aspect of Walker Percy’s life and
works, either fiction or non-fiction. Especially welcome are topics relevant
to the SAMLA 91 conference theme: “Languages: Power, Identity,
Relationships.” For Percy, the human capacity for language and for naming
gives us our identity and is only possible through relationships of
intersubjectivity. Percy wrote extensively on language, creating his
“radical anthropology” based on his unique semiotic, with these themes
pervasive in his novels. Please send 300-word abstracts by May 15, 2019, to
Dr. Karey Perkins, Institute for Studies in Pragmaticism,
kareyperkins AT gmail.edu. Please also include a brief bio and any A/V
requirements in your abstract.
