Chad, could you do me a favor and write this up a bit more formally, so I can
send it to the Whole Systems Foundation as an addendum to our grant proposal?

All I need is a quick paragraph updating the status of HG (call it PIW),
what's been done so far and where they can go (links) to check it out, with
instructions on creating a password if necessary. This would REALLY help me
out, I am busy at work and cannot do it myself.

Thanks!
*Stephanie

So I have put the latest version of HG out (hg.zip and hg.tar.gz in
the Documents folder) with only two gaping holes that prohibit a
functional live demo. The bugs are a permission one that only allows
authenticated users any kind of access, including 'viewing' which
should be allowable anonymously. I think this one is quite simple.
The other one looks like a rewrite bug, related to the site setup that
may be harder to figure out. The effect of which is that you can't
add any objects.

On the good side, here is a list of what is there:

o Basic object management capabilities that keep track of their
parents and children.

o You can create Plant objects that consist only of the name.
Although changing info is not currently implemented it would be
easy to do so.

o You can create Comment objects and attach them to other Plant or
Comment objects. Also no editing yet.

o Basic ZCatalog support for HGObjects allowing searches, but there
is not yet a method to transform several words into a valid search
query (needs search engine).

o Easy design path to create numerous other types of HGObjects that
include locales, sets, releationships, etc.

Anyway, your current best bet is to download the zip or tar.gz and run
it / look at it on your home machine because it should work as
advertised there. Html documentation is in the html folder, etc.

I'm going to take a little break at the moment to give my brain a
rest, but I plan on adding in blurbs and bios to the permaculture.info
site and hopefully crack those two bugs by tomorrow.

Oh, ya. The live version is at <http://www.permaculture.info/HG/>
