Hi all, I live in the Highlands, near Chapel Hill High school. My neighbor ,a
few houses down, has a large clump of honey bees under the eave of her roof
next to her fireplace wall. Probably 30 FT up. She is not sure how long they
have been there since its not a place she easily sees. There seemed to be a
lot of “flying around” when she first noticed it a week ago. Now it looks
very settled and appears to be bees going in and out as a regular hive. The
eave overhang is rectangular and I suspect hollow so they may be in there
also. I checked the attic and couldn’t hear or see anything inside. If they
have set up a hive, what are the chances I can entice them out with some
pheromone and hive catcher box? It would have to sit about 10 feet below it.
Or does she need to call professionals? or is anyone else interested in it?
