Drones are most easily identified by their much bigger compound eyes.  All for seeing the occasional virgin queen  flying around the drone congregation area - their sole purpose in life (and death!).  When you see one next to the other, the difference is striking.  And they are also just plain bigger all around, but the eyes are the big give-away.
