We captured a swarm and placed it about 100 yards away from the original hive. We even provided a free frame of honey as a retention bonus. They absconded the next day, swarming off to greener pastures I imagine. I heard its best to start a captured swarm a few miles away from their original hive for a few weeks. Is that the general rule of thumb? Kirsten
