Many members of OCBA took and passed the written portion of the Certified Beekeeper exam at the end of Bee School. Beekeepers who passed the written exam are eligible to take the Practical Exam provided that they are still members of the NC State Beekeepers Association. Upon completion of the practical exam, you will receive a certificate from the NC State Beekeepers Association confirming your beekeeping expertise as a Certified Beekeeper.

OCBA's Journeyman and Master Beekeepers stand ready to administer the practical exam. This can be done at your apiary - with your bees - in an environment familiar to you.

I encourage all OCBA members to become certified. Doing so confirms your understanding of beekeeping essentials. Take a look at the attached test protocol. If you have been keeping bees for a year, you know this stuff!

Certification is also the first step toward Journeyman Beekeeper and Master Beekeeper certification. If you are interested in taking the Certified Beekeeper Practical Exam, please let me know and we'll get it scheduled.

FYI - OCBA membership includes:
18 Certified Beekeepers
6 Journeyman Beekeepers
5 Master Beekeepers
