I wanted to start off by first thanking folks who are already doing some great outreach projects. Geneva is putting on a mini bee school for the UNC CH student bee club. This is a fantastic undertaking and we really appreciate Geneva's work. Cynthia Speed is collaborating with me on presenting a program for STEM night at Mary Scroggs on April 20th. Thanks Cynthia! And Nerissa Rivera and Jeanne Arnts are putting together a program for the Cultural Explosion Program on April 27th. You go girls!! Meredith Friedrick has helped out giving presentations to little ones in some of our schools. You are definitely appreciated!

So now it is your turn. Below is a listing of the outreach opportunities available in the coming months. Please consider volunteering for some of these. OCBA is committed to educating the county about our favorite little girls and we need everyone's help to be successful at this. If you are interested in any of these events, please email me.

1. On 4/28 (Last Friday) OCBA is partnering with the Hillsborough Tree Board to have a display. David Eckert will be heading this up and he would appreciate a helper. This is an evening event.

2. On 5/4 we will be doing our annual Farm to Table with the fourth graders in many of our schools. This event was rained out last fall. Some of you have helped in the past and I hope you will consider pitching in again. I will be there but would love some help.It is fun and can be a bit chaotic! This event takes place in the day from about 10 until 2 and we get lunch.

3. On 5/20 we are signed up to have a table at the Hillsborough Garden Tour. I really need someone to step up to the plate on this one. I made the commitment and now find I will be out of town. (My niece's graduation from pharmacy school) This is a very laid back event. We usually have a table at one of the gardens. Folks are just walking about enjoying the plants and casually interact with us. Since Hillsborough is now a Bee City, it would be great to have a presence there. The tour is during the day.

4. On 6/3, Kidzu at University Mall would like us to participate in their Makery. This involves just setting up a little table to interact with the kids as they come by. We could have a craft or just do a talk about bees. This lasts from 10:30 to 12:30. I think it will be fun and I could sure use some help.

5. On 6/21 we will back at Kidzu for their summer camp from 9:30 to 11:30. I bring an observation hive and some other props for this, weather permitting. A second person would be nice.

So consult your calendars and let me know which event you are going to sign up for!!!!
