To all Chapters,
The NCSBA received an email from North Carolina Department of Agriculture that states (in part);
"I (Steve Troxler) have worked with the General Assembly and the Governor's Office to request a down payment on the costs of response, while we continue to assess agriculture needs to restore our operations. I will be reaching out to your associations in the coming weeks to identify areas of need that still exist to enable recovery."
It went on to say; "Please feel free to contact my (Steve Troxler's) office with your ideas and needs for your commodities. By working together over the next few months, we plan to develop and submit an Agriculture Disaster Recovery package to the General Assembly by early spring."
The NCSBA will collect and consolidate all reported losses of Honey Bees by its membership using the form found at the below link to the webpage. Only those losses reported on this form will be accepted because we, the NCSBA, may be asked to describe the types of losses and where they occurred and will need the data to support our numbers. We may also need to be able to contact those beekeepers who report the losses.
The NCSBA is only collecting the information, to assess the need for disaster recovery in order to report to the NCDA. Any Financial Aid will come from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture. The NCSBA will not receive the money.
Chapter representatives are ask to get the word out to your Association members quickly as January 31, 2017 is the deadline for submission.
Thank you in advance for your response, Rick Coor, NCSBA President 2016
