Hi Marty,

I am with you on being squarely in uncharted waters. On New Year's Eve the
North Pole was ABOVE FREEZING for a couple of days. This is the dead of
winter, almost zero sunlight, and it's above freezing. The vast amounts of
meltwater pouring off Greenland has created a "dipole" in the North
Atlantic, an area of colder water among the Gulf Stream that is creating its
own weather, like hurricane force winds in Iceland and Ireland. Atmospheric
methane concentrations have tripled since the 1850s and methane is 25+ times
more efficient at trapping heat than carbon dioxide. It's not nice to fool
with Mother Nature!

It has been estimated by Arctic scientific experts that there is more
methane in the arctic trapped in a form of methane ice called "clathrates"
than all the carbon that man has ever burned since the 1850s (coal, gas and
oil combined). As the Arctic becomes ice free, this methane ice, highly
unstable, is erupting out of the subsea permafrost. It is ominous. Google
Arctic Methane and read, or watch this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F9ed5E54s4.

The implications for human beings are huge, and also for the bees.

As i noted last month a weird an abnormal warm winter leads to the
unfortunate.

Picture taken today at one of my yards. Found fully developed drone on hive
stand and a pupae that had been pulled outside another hive.

A sign of the changing times. Drones flying in january then snow storms
coming for febuary means a new era in beekeeping is coming.
