Contact your Bee Inspector, Will Hicks, at 919 691 0022.  If he sees indications of a pesticide issue he can connect with NCDA&CS Pesticide Section.

Hey all,

I came back from a three week vacation to find literally hundreds of dead bees strewn around my four hives (pictures below of dead bees). I took a look with another bee keeper today who thought someone might have sprayed chemicals nearby. Other bee keepers thought perhaps it was an animal visit to the hives. The bee populations in two of the hives were also very weak whereas before I left for vacation all four hives were very strong. Does anyone have any insight into what might have happened and/or what I should do at this point? We live out in Durham County until this coming Mondaywhen we will move into the city, so there's lots of chemicals being sprayed on crops in a 3 mile radius, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was from chemicals. I appreciate all of your thoughts in advance!

Thanks,
Cole
